The Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) München is one of the leading universities in Europe with a tradition spanning more than 500 years. It offers a wide spectrum of all fields of knowledge – the ideal basis for excellent research and a challenging curriculum.
From Egyptology to Dentistry – with around 150 courses and numerous possible combinations, the study programmes at LMU are very diverse. The spectrum of subjects ranges from humanities and cultural studies to law, economics, social sciences, medicine and natural sciences.
Campus life at LMU is very international: 15 per cent of the approx. 50,000 students come from abroad – from a total of 130 nations. The LMU’s wide range of services helps them all to quickly settle into university life and to achieve their goals. The expertise and creativity of scientists at the LMU create the foundations for the university’s outstanding research record.
Munich is the most attractive and liveable cities in Germany with a population of 1.35 million. Numerous internationally renowned museums, concert halls and theatres, the prestigious opera house and ballet make the Bavarian capital one of the most important cultural metropolises in Europe. The immediate vicinity to the Bavarian Alps and lakes as well as royal castles of Upper Bavaria offer a high recreational value.
