Enhancing Fair Mobility: A gender sensitive transdisciplinary approach to peri urban mobility

This doctoral project, embedded within the Fair Mobility Project, aims to enhance fair mobility in peri-urban areas through a gender-sensitive, intersectional, and transdisciplinary approach. It integrates insights from feminist epistemology, intersectionality, and systems theory to develop a comprehensive understanding of the complex interactions between mobility, society, and the environment.
The project investigates how innovations in the mobility sector, such as autonomous driving, electromobility (micromobility), shared mobility services, and smart city initiatives, can contribute to reducing mobility inequalities while promoting sustainability and mitigating the effects of climate change. The research employs both qualitative (interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (surveys, statistical analysis) methods to gather comprehensive data on the experiences of women and minorities regarding sustainable mobility solutions.
A particular focus is placed on the analysis of the social, environmental, and gender-specific impacts of mobility solutions, as well as on strategies for the resource-efficient use through sustainable transport planning. The project aims to develop policy recommendations and practical guidelines that contribute to the implementation of fair mobility solutions and to a contribution to sustainable urban planning. The project's findings will be published in three publications, focusing on the methodology, mobility innovations, and sustainability aspects.
This endeavour strives to contribute to the academic discourse on fair mobility and to provide practical insights for policy makers, urban planners, and environmental organizations.
